On my first trip to Palmyra Atoll (June 2001),
we stayed in vinyl tents that got so humid inside
my video camcorder would shut itself down.

The single generator ran 8-10 hours per day
and each outhouse had a bucket of calcium hydroxide (lime)
for one to pour a 'scoop' over one's completed business.
