Tracking the movement of predators and prey fishes
on reef flats and lagoons is the passion
of veteran Palmyra Atoll scientist
Jenn Caselle (University of California Santa
Barbara)
and Alan Friedlander (USGS & University of Hawaii).
These particular bonefish (Albula glossodonta)
were being held in a portable 'kiddy' pool for post
surgical recovery
after implantation of acoustic transmitters.
All four prolific harvesters of shallow water crabs
and shrimp
were successfully released back into the wild.
